Torakusu Yamaha (1851-1916) was a Japanese entrepreneur and the founder of the Yamaha Corporation. Born on April 20, 1851, in Wakayama, Japan, he initially trained as a watchmaker and later repaired medical equipment1. In 1887, he successfully built Japan's first reed organ, which led him to establish Nippon Gakki Co Ltd (later renamed Yamaha Corporation) to produce musical instruments.
